Welcome Ethan John Hunt!

Our friends Alison and Matt Hunt were expecting their baby to arrive around August 19th, but they were very surprised when one week ago Alison started to show early signs of going into labor. Alison went into the hospital that day and had to stay for what the doctors were hoping would be two weeks and then they would deliver the baby. Well, little Baby Hunt had a different idea and decided to join us in the world early yesterday morning. After a long week, little sleep for the Hunts and lots of prayers, Ethan John Hunt was born at 32 weeks and 5 days. He was 3 lbs 13 oz and 18 inches long. Yesterday was also supposed to be Alison's baby shower, so Ethan must have decided he wanted to be here for the party.

I went to the hospital yesterday with a couple of friends to see baby Ethan, Alison and Matt. He is beautiful!!! He will have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks, but he's doing well for how early he was born. Alison and Matt are both doing great. Alison is feeling well and looked wonderful. They are both very tired, but very excited. The Hunt's keeping everyone updated via their blog if you would like to hear more about Ethan and find out how they are doing over the next few weeks.

We could not be happier for them and we can't wait to see Ethan again soon.

Keely Singer the Singer!!

My very dear and very talented friend Keely Singer just launched a new website you should all check out at www.keelysinger.com!!

Keely is an amazing performer and singer, and yes, Singer is really her last name. She married our good friend Spencer Singer about a year and a half ago. Keely sings regularly in Chicago at places like Ai Japanese Restaurant and Lounge and 3rd Coast Cafe and Wine Bar. She's also done several one woman cabert shows at Davenports.

We love going to hear her sing and you should check her out if you're in town. She's also an amazing amazing friend I've known since high school. She's the best and we love her!!

Cottage Weekend

We just got back from Sawyer Michigan and a GREAT weekend at the Edison cottage. Each year our friends Robin and Mike host a friends weekend at their family cottage in Michigan. We have some of the best memories from our times there and this weekend did not dissapoint.

We had good beach weather, great food, fun games and smores!! We went into the little town of New Buffalo to check out some shops and had a great italian dinner. The guys played golf and we all played a game called Loaded Questions...very fun if your're looking for a good group game.

Best of all, we got to spend some time with Bailey, the Edison's cute as a button son. He's so fun and so smart for his age and he just followed Duke around and repeated everything he said. That could have been dangerous, but thankfully, the only new terms he learned were "Oh, man" which he said when his shoe fell off and " Ka Boom!" when he threw a rock in the water. We can't wait to see him again. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

DIY Weekend

We just had a marathon DIY home improvement weekend at our place and it feels great to get so much done! My parents came in for the weekend to help us spruce up our patio (among many many other things) as an early anniversary present and we could not be more grateful or excited about the outcome. You can see the before and after pictures above. BIG difference!! We are looking forward to spending a lot of time out on our deck this summer. The only thing we have left to do is find something other than white metal chairs for the table.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom and Dad! You are THE BEST! My mom did a lot of the shopping and found great deals on fabric and our beautiful outdoor chandelier. We made all the pillows, curtains and the table cloth. I had been wanting to learn how to sew and my mom gave me some great lessons this weekend. She is an expert and I am never surprised at how well she can take a vision to reality when it comes to decorating. She really should start a business.

Duke and my Dad had the not so fun job of hanging up our outdoor 10 ft. long curtains which was a tough job considering there really was no easy way to secure them...we ended up with a metal rod and orange clamps. My mom and I made them paint the orange clamps black so the orange didn't ruin our "look". The curtains look fabulous!!

They also painted an old dresser that was my parents so we could replace the one in our bedroom. I love it!! It looks great and it really makes the "look" of our room come together. They hung up some roman shades in our room and the guest room and grouted the backsplash in our kitchen (which has been without grout for close to a year).

As you can see, we did A LOT over three days...with a lot of rain too! We ended the weekend with dinner out on our fabulous new deck last night talking about all the projects. It was such a fun weekend and I loved doing all of the work with my parents. It went by so fast and now they are leaving today. We'll just have to come up with some more projects we need help with so they can come back and do it again!!

Thanks again Mom and Dad. Love you!!!
